Media personalities game for charity auction

By Sun staff, Ottawa Sun

Local entrepreneurs have already shown they are willing to shell out hundreds of dollars to spend some quality time with movers and shakers from Ottawa's hi-tech scene.

Now the question is whether they will ante up to hang out for an evening with some of the city's business journalists.

The latest event organized by Executives on Auction offers up to six buyers the opportunity to dine out and take in an Ottawa Senators game with eight media personalities, with all proceeds going to charity.

Scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7, the evening begins with a prime rib dinner in the Corel Centre's Senate Club.

Then it's up to a luxury box to see the Senators tangle with last year's Stanley Cup finalists, the Carolina Hurricanes.

Each of the media reps taking part in the evening has designated a charity which will benefit from the event.

Bidding is already up to between $150 and $250 for the six seats available. The auction will be open until noon on Thursday, Dec. 5.

Journalists taking part are: Ottawa Sun money editor Geoff Matthews; Simon Tuck of the Globe and Mail; Colin Trethewey and Paul Brent from CJOH; Scott Anderson of the Ottawa Citizen; Derek Mellon, formerly of the Ottawa Business Journal; Janet Eastman of Ottawa Citizen Business TV; and John Brenner from CHUM radio.
